I have a lot of nice flower photos, but being the way I am, I always feel the need to go a step or two farther with them. I'm happy with the way this one turned out, and will likely pursue this concept further when the time is right. The flower is a peony (one of my favourite flowers to photograph and to have in the garden) from the back yard. If you look at the lower middle you will see a little green spider hanging on to one of the petals. I never notice these little fellows when I am shooting, but they are included somewhere in a lot of my flower photos, as I come to realize only when looking at them on the computer.

Raven's Guidebook
Here's a new photomontage titled "Raven's Guidebook", combining my own photos with vintage imagery and a touch of distressing. I just delivered a mixed media version of this (ready to hang, mounted on a cradled art board with encaustic medium overlay) to the Saskatchewan Craft Council Affinity Gallery (Broadway Avenue, Saskatoon) for the ongoing members' show if you want to check it out. The show continues until August 29th, but note that as pieces are sold, they get taken home by the purchaser on the spot, so this one might not still be around if you wait.

"Prairie Times"
Here's a new image featuring my favourite prairie icon. Variations on the grain elevator theme are endless. This one isn't yet on my website, but will be soon.

Dubie Gets his Wings
Here's another of my recent "horse drama"images. This one stars Dubie, former paddock-mate and partner in crime to my gelding Alpac.

Gelding Drama
It's been a while since I worked with horse images. This one is based on a rather poor quality action shot from a few years ago, starring my gelding Alpac (on right) and his friend Dubie. These two were room-mates in their turnout pen for a number of years, and got along well. When they were turned out for a run in the big fenced run they usually indulged in play fighting for a bit before settling down to a serious run and buck.

More trees
Trees seem to be gaining a bit more prominence in my recent photo image work. I have always loved trees, especially in the fall and winter when they show their strong shapes and structure, but have never done much artwork featuring them as the main subject matter. This seems to be changing of late. I wonder where this direction will take me next?

Through the leaves
I have a fondness for images with stairs in them--some sort of unconscious symbolism at work in my head, I suspect. Here's one from a late summer shoot, reworked in Photoshop as a monochrome image.
